c-Abl is a protein encoded by the ABL1 gene which is approximately 122,8 kDa. c-Abl is localised to the cytoplasm, nucleus and mitochondrion. It is involved in DNA double-strand break repair, development Slit-Robo signalling, cell cycle and the ErbB signalling pathway. It coordinates actin re-modelling through tyrosine phosphorylation of proteins controlling cytoskeleton dynamics like branch formation, membrane anchoring, signalling and microtubule-binding proteins. c-Abl is widely expressed in human tissues. Mutations in the ABL1 gene result in chronic myeloid leukemia. STJ90694 was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity-chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen. This primary antibody specifically binds to endogenous c-Abl protein which only binds about Y245 when Y245 is phosphorylated.
